Douglas Rowe


Douglas Rowe is a native of Hickory, NC. Currently, he is pursuing his Master’s degree in Percussion Performance at UNC School of the Arts located in Winston-Salem, NC. Previously, he graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Wingate University located in Wingate, NC. Doug’s primary teachers include John R. Beck, David Markgraf, Matthew Decker and Rick Cline.
Over the last four years, Doug has contributed a lot to education. He currently serves as the Front Ensemble Instructor at Piedmont High School located in Monroe, NC. The Fall of 2017 will be his fifth year on staff. In the Fall of 2016, Doug was also hired on as the Percussion Instructor at North Forsyth High School located in Winston-Salem, NC. Previously, he was named a Percussion Instructor of the Cuthbertson High School Marching Band in the Fall of 2015. In addition, he coached the Cuthbertson Middle School Percussion Ensemble in the Spring of 2016. He serves as a
Percussion Consultant at his Alma Mater, Hickory High School located in Hickory, NC. He also served as a Percussion Instructor for their Marching Band during the Fall of 2012. Doug also teaches private lessons on ALL things percussion as well as piano.
Doug has performed in many venues with a variety of ensembles. He has accompanied choral ensembles, accompanied soloists, performed in pit orchestras for musicals/operas, performed in wind ensembles, performed in marching percussion sections, performed in jazz combos, performed in steel drum bands, etc. Currently, he serves as a member of the Union Symphony percussion section. Doug does not turn down any performance opportunities that come his way.
Doug is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, North Carolina Music Educators Association, and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). He is also a member of the Saylers Percussion Educational Team.
Doug Rowe is a dedicated musician, educator, and arranger/composer. He is very much involved with the percussion activity at large. He strives to give his students the same opportunities he has
had throughout the past years.
